Breast Cancer Awareness Month Ideas

(4 posts)

  1. I am looking for event ideas to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October 2008.

We are a small pilates studio outside of Philadelphia PA, and we have partnered with Pilates for Pink. We want to include our current clients, encourage them to invite their friends and families, and draw in brand-new people to support this cause and be exposed to our studio.

    We are already planning:
-at least one weekend of free, public classes where we will collect donations instead of payments
-an in-house competition for clients to donate small change for the amount of teasers, push ups, etc. they complete during the month.
-a possible speaker/workshop on breast cancer, possibly relating to recovery and fitness

Does anyone have any ideas? I’d like to add one or two more public-friendly ways to bring new people in our door in support of Breast Cancer Awareness, and potentially add to our client list.

Our current clients are very willing to support Pilates for Pink, so I'm searching for ways to draw in the public and both expose them to our studio and bring in more donations. Press releases and local ads will help to spread the message, but the actual events must be compelling enough to participate in for people not already at the studio as members.

What about hosting a silent auction? Have businesses donate items to be auctioned off and all proceeds would go toward the cause. Another idea would be to sponsor a city-wide walk-a-thon. Plan your route thru town. Walkers would collect sponsor signatures and per mile pledges. The whole city could participate in these two events. Hope this helps.

This sounds like a great idea. Best of luck to you; what an awesome thing you guys are doing.

I couldn't think of anything solid, but I did want to drop you a line of encouragement. My adopted mother is a 7 1/2 year survivor. I will keep you in my brain; hopefully something will come up.

At least 44 percent of women diagnosed with breast cancer are employed at the time of their diagnosis. Reach out to working women by holding a seminar or a meeting at your place of work. The Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation will provide breast self examination cards and other educational materials and help your company spread the word. 642-892 exam , 70-294 exam , 000-331 exam
