  1. I have a new Tropical Theme online store. I've been up and running for about 6 months. I do have some traffic, but only a couple of sales. I was hoping someone would take a look at it and tell me where I need to improve it.
    Thanks so much,

  2. Hi there. I checked out your website. It is a bit cluttered and hard to navigate.

Where are you advertising? Are you doing any blogging? Who are you letting know it is out there?

  3. Thanks so much for responding. Your help is appreciated. I thought my navigation was good, so please tell me what you suggest. Do you feel all pages are cluttered or just the home page?
I have a shoe string advertising budget. I use free classifieds, free news releases, magazine message boards, twitter and any free option I can think of. I do not do any blogging. Tell me what you would do. Thank you

  4. I agree the home page does looks cluttered. I would take the background picture off of the home page it makes the pictures of the actual products hard to see. On the individual product pages, can you make the pictures the same size? I also think the pictures down the right side of the page are a little distracting. Just some thoughts!! Hope that helps!

Also, a blog is a good idea to help with traffic - and facebook, linkedin, twitter.

  7. Hello IslandLifeShop,

I just took a quick glance at your site and have a few comments for you.

If you need more traffic, which may convert to sales, then you need to optimize your site for the search engines. This is called SEO - Search Engine Optimization.

Here are some SEO items missing from your site:
1 - I looked briefly at your source code and notice that you do not have any way to track any information about your website visitors. This can be done by placing Google Analytics code on each page. This is a free service from Google.

2 - Search engines like for you to use key words related to your website topic in the website name as well as in the web 'page' names. You need to change the page names to have keywords related to what you are selling on each page.

3 - Search engines like to look at image 'alt' tags. Alt tags server to give the user a text description of the image in cases where the image can not be shown. Search engines will use the text in these tags to know what the page is about. You would be much better served to remove the image file name and use text descriptors.

If you would like a more in depth analysis or need help with these changes let us know.

    Nancy

Well, I wish you all the luck but I thought I'd throw out there first thing first for your running of your online store - make sure to have Cyberdefender in order to block virus' from attacking! It's made the world of difference for me.
